Summer Game Fest 2026 is live from Los Angeles
Summer Game Fest 2026 began on Friday, June 5, with a two-hour livestream from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. IGN is following the showcase in real time, with updates on every trailer, reveal, and announcement as they happen.
The event is hosted by Geoff Keighley and follows a busy week for game-news fans, including Sony’s State of Play earlier this week. That makes this one of the biggest summer moments for players watching for new looks at upcoming releases.
What was expected at the showcase
Before the event began, a few games were already known or strongly expected to appear. Among the confirmed names were Star Wars: Zero Company, which is due a new gameplay trailer, and Guild Wars, which IGN noted would be present in some capacity.
Other titles mentioned ahead of the show included Clutch, the open-world driving game from former Forza Horizon developers, plus a new trailer for the next Fortnite season from Epic Games. Paramount Games Studio also said it would announce its first game during the presentation.
- Start time: Friday, June 5, at 2pm PT / 5pm ET / 10pm UK
- Location: Dolby Theatre, Los Angeles
- Host: Geoff Keighley
- Format: Two-hour livestream
Guild Wars 3 talk becomes one of the biggest questions

One of the most talked-about possibilities heading into Summer Game Fest 2026 was the future of Guild Wars. IGN reported that ArenaNet’s MMORPG series would appear at the event in some form, which immediately raised speculation about whether Guild Wars 3 could finally be announced.
That is still only speculation, not confirmed news. But the mention of Guild Wars alone was enough to make it one of the show’s most watched storylines.
For long-time MMO players, a possible Guild Wars 3 reveal would be a major moment. The series has a loyal audience, and any official update from ArenaNet would likely draw strong interest from both returning fans and players who have never left the genre.
Here is why the Guild Wars section matters so much:
- It is one of the few pre-show mentions that could signal a major franchise move.
- ArenaNet’s presence suggests there is at least something new to show.
- Fans are watching closely for whether the series moves beyond Guild Wars 2.
If Guild Wars 3 is not announced, the event could still set the tone for future MMO news. Either way, the name alone has become one of Summer Game Fest 2026’s biggest talking points.
The first wave of reveals
The showcase quickly moved into a run of new announcements, with several trailers and teasers arriving in rapid succession.

What this means for players
Summer Game Fest has become one of the biggest dates on the gaming calendar because it brings together franchise updates, surprise reveals, and release-date news in one place. This year’s event is already delivering a mix of remakes, new IP, sequel teasers, and long-range projects.
For players tracking major franchises, the biggest unanswered question may still be Guild Wars 3. For everyone else, the show is offering a broad look at where the industry is heading next, from sci-fi action and horror to licensed games and classic series revivals.
