Westlanders is bringing survival-crafting to the Wild West in early 2027

Westlanders is headed to PC Early Access

Western-themed survival and crafting game Westlanders is set to launch in Early Access on PC via Steam in early 2027, publisher Team17 and developer The Breach Studios have announced.

The game will also arrive on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series at the time of its full release.

What Westlanders is about

Team17 describes Westlanders as an open-world game built around survival, crafting, building, and management. Players start as survivors and gradually work toward building a larger economic network.

A key part of the setup is a customizable wagon that acts as a mobile base. From there, players explore the world, gather resources, and try to stay alive in harsh conditions.

Key features highlighted by Team17

  • Dynamic open-world survival with hazards, wildlife, and bandits
  • Resource gathering and hidden locations to discover
  • Settlement building across the valley
  • Crafting and tech progression for tools, gear, and buildings
  • Farming, ranching, and mining systems
  • Worker automation and production lines

Why this release matters

For players who like survival games with base-building and management layers, Westlanders appears to be aiming for a broader simulation-style loop rather than simple combat or exploration.

The wagon-as-base idea also gives the game a clearer identity within the survival genre, especially for fans looking for a frontier setting instead of the usual post-apocalyptic or fantasy backdrop.

Team17 and The Breach Studios on the partnership

In a press release, Team17 general manager Harley Homewood said the publisher was drawn to The Breach Studios’ take on the survival-crafting genre. The Breach Studios CEO Ferran Punti said the team was excited to work with Team17 and thanked Radical Theory for supporting the game’s marketing over the last eight months.

Team17 and The Breach Studios also shared a new trailer and screenshots for the game.
