Little Kitty, Big City is marking its second anniversary with a free Birthday Update, now available for players on Xbox Game Pass.
Announced by the team behind the game, the update adds new areas to explore, fresh cosmetic items, crossover surprises, and a handful of quality-of-life improvements for fans of the small-cat sandbox adventure.
Kitty’s apartment is now fully explorable
The biggest addition in the anniversary update is the expansion of Kitty’s home. Until now, players only saw part of the apartment around the familiar windowsill nap spot. With this update, the rest of the interior is open as a new playground.
That means more room for mischief, more places to investigate, and new interactions inside Kitty’s living space. The studio says players can also spend time with Turt, Kitty’s turtle roommate, and uncover more of Kitty’s musical side.
Birthday decorations, photo tools and new hats
To celebrate two years since launch, the apartment has been dressed up with balloons, cake and presents. The update also adds new Photo Mode stickers and frames, giving players more ways to capture birthday-themed moments.
And yes, there is a gift to open.
The studio says an adorable hat is tucked somewhere under the wrapping paper, making the apartment party more than just a visual refresh.

Crossovers bring new characters and cosmetics
The Birthday Update also includes a set of crossover additions drawn from other games and studios.
- From The Amazing Digital Circus and Glitch Productions: a Jax character hat, a Jax skin unlocked through the Kitty Customizer using the code VEGAN, and a Pomni plush that can be interacted with.
- From Peak, courtesy of Aggro Crab Games and Landfall Games: Bing Bong appears as an interactable plush that Kitty can carry.
- From Gecko Gods, courtesy of Inresin and Super Rare: the Little Gecko joins as a hat item.
These additions continue the game’s playful tone, giving returning players more reasons to revisit the Big City.
Gameplay tweaks and technical fixes
Alongside the new content, the update brings changes aimed at smoothing out the experience.
| Update area | What changed |
|---|---|
| Ducklings | They now react to Kitty’s moods and emotes, and can join nap spots for group snoozes. |
| Load screens | Ducklings now have animated icons. |
| Technical fixes | The studio says it has made a permanent fix for getting back into the construction yard. |
For players, that means a little more personality in the world and fewer interruptions while exploring.
A birthday gift for returning and new players
The studio says the update is a thank-you to the game’s community after two years of support. Whether you have been following Kitty since launch or are discovering the game through Xbox Game Pass, the Birthday Update adds a fresh excuse to jump back in.
