Clutch is Here to Challenge Forza
Watching the first hour of Clutch, the upcoming racing game from Maverick, left me questioning just how good this game looks. With a team rich in racing experience, including Mike Brown, the former creative director for Forza Horizon, it’s clear they’re taking the genre seriously.
A Cinematic Storyline
The game opens with a haunting flashback featuring our protagonist, Theo Martial, who finds himself in the middle of the prestigious R1K racing series. Following a tragic event, Theo and his sister, Cass, are drawn into underground street racing, raising the stakes significantly.
Visual Splendor

One of my biggest takeaways? The graphics are nothing short of incredible. During the demo, I had moments where I puzzled over whether I was viewing a pre-rendered cutscene or live action. From the races to the environments, everything looks impeccable. The French Riviera setting provides a stunning backdrop, enhancing the overall experience.
Gameplay Mechanics
Clutch doesn’t just shine in visuals; it also appears to strike a balance between sim-like realism and thrilling action. The introduction of unique mechanics, like a grappling hook for dramatic escapes, adds a layer of creativity and excitement to gameplay.
Your Thoughts
I came away from the demo excited. If Maverick can keep this momentum through to launch, Clutch stands a strong chance of becoming a significant player in the racing genre. As we anticipate its release, I’m curious: will it be the racer we’ve all been waiting for.
